Steve Bannon and Elon Musk may both be prominent figures within the conservative political landscape,

but the former Trump strategist has recently launched scathing attacks against the billionaire entrepreneur.
Bannon’s latest remarks have not only drawn attention but have also earned an unexpected agreement from the hosts of The View,
who found themselves siding with the MAGA firebrand in his ongoing feud with Musk.

Bannon’s Sharp Criticism of Musk

During an interview with British news outlet UnHerd, Bannon lashed out at Musk,

Surprisingly, co-host Sara Haines expressed agreement with Bannon’s assessment of Musk, admitting that she never expected to find herself on the same side as the controversial former White House strategist.
“I hate to say it, but I agree with Steve Bannon on this one,” Haines admitted. She criticized Musk’s approach to government efficiency, arguing that treating the public sector like a business is misguided. “This is the public sector, not the private sector,” she said, emphasizing that indiscriminately cutting $1 trillion in government spending without consideration for its impact on ordinary Americans is problematic.
Haines went on to note that while Trump initially campaigned on helping working-class Americans, his policies have instead prioritized tax breaks for the wealthy while proposing cuts to essential social programs. She highlighted Bannon’s more populist stance, noting that he has advocated for protecting entitlements like Social Security and Medicaid.
“Steve Bannon says it is going to hurt for all of us,” she explained. “We all got into this together. You need to give the breaks to the lower and middle class—stop slashing and helping the top.”

Behar chimed in, joking that Bannon “sounds like a lefty,” to which Haines responded, “That’s why I said I agree with him! That rarely happens, but on this, I do.”
Bannon’s Broader Feud with Musk
Bannon’s hostility toward Musk is not new. Following Trump’s re-election, Bannon initiated what he called a “MAGA civil war” against Musk and other tech executives over their support for H-1B visas, which allow skilled foreign workers to enter the U.S. Bannon has long opposed these visas, viewing them as a threat to American workers, while Musk has supported their use for hiring top engineering talent.
At one point, Bannon even vowed to “rip [Musk’s] face off” and push him out of Trump’s inner circle. However, despite Musk’s contentious presence at Mar-a-Lago, Trump ultimately sided with him on the H-1B issue, allowing Musk to maintain influence within his administration.
Musk’s Response to Bannon’s Criticism

While Musk has largely ignored Bannon’s attacks, he did recently fire back on social media. Responding to Bannon’s claims that Musk is not addressing defense spending in his cost-cutting initiatives, the Tesla CEO dismissed Bannon as a lot of talk with little action. “Bannon is a great talker, but not a great doer,” Musk tweeted. “What did he get done this week? Nothing.”
The Broader Political Implications
Bannon’s rift with Musk highlights growing divisions within Trump’s political circle, particularly between economic populists like Bannon and billionaire business leaders like Musk. While Trump continues to court both factions, tensions over government spending, taxation, and immigration could further drive a wedge between these powerful conservative figures.
Meanwhile, The View’s unusual moment of agreement with Bannon underscores how Musk’s political maneuvering has alienated figures on both the right and the left. While Musk remains a formidable force in conservative politics, his approach to governance and economic policy continues to spark controversy—even among those who once shared his political alignment.
As Trump and Musk’s alliance faces increasing scrutiny, it remains to be seen how these shifting dynamics will influence conservative politics in the months ahead.
